Ronnie Gene Short, 77, of Hillsdale, passed away at his residence Wednesday, July 22, 2020 with his family at his side.
He was born in Hillsdale on September 12, 1942, to Theodore and Margie Short.
He was an Army veteran, having served during the Viet Nam era. He was a maintenance mechanic, retiring from the Newport Chemical Depot after 47 years. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local #157. He also was a member of the Paul Taylor Post #1752 VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Robert Short.
On January 31, 1969, he married Cleola Russsell in Newport and she survives him. He is also survived by his son, Rex Allen ( Melissa Sue) Short of Hillsdale; granddaughter, Alexis Marie (Dustin) Doss of Rockville; brothers, Hubert Short of Hillsdale, Leon Short of Clinton, Ken Short of Russellville, AR; sisters, Dorothy Pearman of Hillsdale, Rena Jones of Bloomingdale, and Donna Kitchens of Birmingham, AL; 2 great-granddaughters, Emmalyn and Callie; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24 2020 from 4 to 8 pm at Brown-Mack Funeral Home in Montezuma. Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 25 at 2 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Keith McIntyre officiating. Burial will follow at Helts Prairie Cemetery in Hillsdale.
