Richard "Rick" Paul Fortner

Richard (Rick) Paul Fortner, 61, passed away February 22, 2017 at 9:15 AM at Union Hospital Terre Haute.  He was born November 29, 1955.  He was the son of the late Paul Fortner and the grandson of the late Edith Fortner.
Rick worked in various specialties during his lifetime.  Rick started his work life as a logger.  He worked at Superior Hardwoods, was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, and he was currently employed at the Newport Pallet Company.
Rick had many passions in his 61 years and was loved by all who knew him.  Rick had a kind heart and a special love for animals in general, but he loved his dog Harold very much.  Rick will forever be remembered for that one of a kind walk, unique voice, and unmistakable laugh.  
Rick is survived by his daughter, Ricki Elizabeth Fortner of Clarksville, TN; his niece, Lindsay Baggerly; one half-brother, Paul Fortner, Jr.; and his dogs, Harold and Sissy.
Rick is preceded in death by his loving grandmother, who was a mother to him, Edith Fortner; his sister, Sue Ann Fortner Nickle; his father, Paul Fortner; and his best friend, John Wayne Buker.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4-6:30 PM on Wednesday at Brown-Mack Funeral Home with the services beginning at 6:30 with Reverend Keith McIntyre officiating.  Cremation was chosen.  Online condolences may be made at www.brownmackfuneralhome.com.
