Merle Dane Cox, 85, of Montezuma, died March 23, 2018, in IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born June 24, 1932 in West Union, IN to Cecil Cox and Leta Manley Cox.
He was a retired owner/operator of Cox Trucking. He was a member of the former Montezuma Masonic Lodge/Rockville Masonic Lodge and member of Operating Engineers Local #841. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha Jean Cox; a daughter, Lou Ann Cox; seven brothers, Harold, Howard, Charles, Junior, Donald, Bill, and Kenny Cox; and two sisters, Nadine Poloncic and Velma Moyer.
He is survived by one son, Daryl and Sherry Cox of Indianapolis; two daughters, Gina and Mike Watson of Mt. Zion, IL and Deidre and Terry Drake of Center Point, IN; eight grandchildren, Travis Sutton, Chad Watson, Christi Cox Lowe, Lindsey Watson Damery, Lacey Sutton, Amy Watson Guinn, Brandon Watson, and Kevin Cox; 13 great-grandchildren, Ashton, Dane, Hadleigh, Hank, Adalyn, Avery, Lexie, Braylon, Shae, Cael, Breanna, Rylee, and Jackson; and two brothers, Larry and Jo Cox of Chrisman, IL and Joe and Penny Cox of Montezuma. Also surviving are sisters-in-laws; and lots of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be 4-8 Tuesday at Brown-Mack Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday with Reverend Keith McIntyre officiating. Masonic memorial services will be held at 7:30 PM on Tuesday. Burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Montezuma, with military honors.
