Mary Newnum, 93, of Terre Haute and formerly of Montezuma, passed away in Terre Haute on Thursday, March 29, 2019.
She was born on January 31, 1926 in Montezuma to Franklin Market and Edith M. Hutson Market.
In addition to being a homemaker, she had been a dental assistant, worked at the Rockville Bank, and sold Tupperware. She was a 50 year member of the Montezuma Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Janice Mullin; husbands, Herbert Smith, Charles Pickinston, and Richard Newnum; sisters, Ruby Nixon, Violet Smith, and Linda Moore; and brothers, Eugene Market, Jack Market, William Market, Reggie Market, and Robert Market.
She is survived by two children, Dan R. Smith of Gautier, Mississippi and Michael L. Smith of Chattanooga, TN; one brother, Jim Market of Elletsville, IN; two sisters, Patsy Penn of Hillsdale, and Judy Walters of Rockville; four grandchildren, Chad Smith, Logan Smith, Trista Smith, and Michael Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Abby Gail Smith and Brandon Smith.
There is no visitation at this time. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Cremation was chosen.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11 am at Oakland Cemetery in Montezuma, Indiana.
