Martha Smith, 74, of West Terre Haute, died July 10, 2020, in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice. She was born May 17, 1946, in Clinton, to Emmett Southard and Lois Marshall Southard.
She was the owner of Marty’s Custom Creations. She was a 1964 graduate of Hillsdale High School. She was a charter member of the Abate Region #12. She also loved being outdoors and was a mom to everybody.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Bob “Frenchie” Southard.
She is survived by one daughter, Tina and Doug McElroy of Blanford; two sons, Frank and Brigitte Smith of West Terre Haute and Michael “Harley” Smith of West Terre Haute; three brothers, John Southard of Hillsdale, Larry and Shirley Southard of Hillsdale, and Jim Southard of Dana; nine grandchildren, Haley Smith, Abby Smith, Dakota Smith, Siera McElroy, Austin McElroy, Sofia Smith, Jazymayne Smith, Izzahbella Smith, and Shelby Lynn De Leon Vasquez; one great-granddaughter, Hazel Marie Smith; four step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Private family graveside services will be held, Tuesday July 14, 2020, in Highland Cemetery, in Hillsdale, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Toys for Tots of Brazil, Abate Region #12, or Hospice of Wabash Valley. Brown-Mack Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
