Larry E. Gates, 72, of Kingman, died at 9:49 pm August 14, 2016 in Union Hospital Terre Haute.
He was born November 16, 1943 in Paris, IL to Ralph Jackson Gates and Reba Kathryn Van Houten Gates.
On June 16, 1963, he married Judy Irene Gard in Martinsville, IL.
He was a member of the Kingman Christian Church and the Indiana Trail Riders.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Gates of Kingman; two sons, Randall Keith and Lisa Gates of Montezuma and Larry Eugene and Lindsey Gates of Urbana, IL; one daughter, Rhonda Lynn Harvey of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Matthew and Kylie Gates, Randilynn and Codi Smith, Cheyenne Harvey, Sydney Davis, Jerad Sharp, Cody Harvey, and Tiffany and Justin Lindley; seven great-grandchildren, Gage Smith, Aubrianna Smith, Mariah Smith, Brexden Gates, Halie Petty, Draven Widrick, and Cierra Lindley; a sister, Shirley and Kenny Craig of Casey, IL; a brother, Ralph and Twyla Gates of Danville, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Nancy Rene Sharp; two brothers, Robert Gates and Donald Gates; and one sister, Leona Williams.
Visitation will be 4-8 on Wednesday at the Montezuma Christian Church. Services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday at the church with Reverend Greg Goodrick officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in Lodi. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montezuma Christian Church.
