James Crum Obituary

James P. Crum, 73, of, Siler City, North Carolina, and formerly of Virginia Beach, VA, and Montezuma, IN, died July 23, 2015.
He was born November 2, 1941, in St. Bernice, Indiana, to Lawrence and Hazel (Stewart) Crum.
On September 12, 1961, he married Patricia Roberts, who preceded him in death in 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Colton Crum; one brother, Lawrence Crum; two sisters, Naomi Plog and Evelyn Crum; one sister-in-law, Patty Crum; and three brothers-in-law, B.J. Plog, Don Roberts and Bert (Buddy) Roberts.
He is survived by his children, Bethany and David Roush of Franklinville, NC; William and Amy (Wilson) Crum of Hillsdale, IN; and Sara Crum and Tamis Fuller of Valdosta, GA; one brother, Tom and Dorothy Crum of Kane, IL; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Roberts of Gibson City, IL, and Carol Roberts of Paris, IL; eight grandchildren, Amy (Roush) and Randy Swantner of Mt. Vernon, AR; Josh Crum of Dana, IN; Brody Crum of Ft. Wayne, IN; Jared Crum of Indianapolis, IN; Noah and Lexi Roush of Franklinville, NC; and Bryce and Brianna Crum of Hillsdale, IN; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a 1959 graduate of Dana High School in Dana, Indiana, where he played the saxophone in the high school band.
He served in the United States Army in Fort Campbell, KY, and Ethiopia, Africa.
He retired from Eli Lilly Clinton Laboratories in 2002 after 32 years.
He served as a volunteer EMT for the Parke County Ambulance Service for several years and was an avid artist and craftsman. He and his wife Pat owned and operated Trigon Ceramics in Montezuma for several years. He was a dedicated family man who took great pride in his family’s accomplishments and growth.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brown Mack Funeral Home in Montezuma. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Keith McIntyre officiating.  Military honors will be performed by Parke County Veteran’s Organizations. Graveside services will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Montezuma. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Independent Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Montezuma following the services.  Online condolences can be made at www.brownmackfuneralhome.com.
