Gilbert L Barajas

Gilbert L. Barajas, 75, of Montezuma, passed away on Saturday March 25, 2023, at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice in Terre Haute.

He was born in Spring Valley, IL on August 16, 1947 to Marcos Barajas and Mary Manriques Barajas.

Preceding Gilbert in death are his parents, sister Bea Cade and son-in-law Frankie Wallace.

Gilbert is survived by his wife Barbara Meyer Barajas of Montezuma, sons Mark Barajas (Christine) of Dyer, IN., Carl Barajas (Regina) of Fullerton, CA., daughters Dawn Battin (Beau) of Greencastle, IN and Laura Wallace of West Union, IN., brothers Ruben Barajas of DePue, IL., and Lenny Barajas (Karen) of Spring Valley, IL., sisters Corinna Guerrero (Pedro) of Indianapolis, IN and Norma Barajas of Chicago, IL; grandchildren Kaitlin Barajas, Jacob Barajas, Joshua Barajas, Marissa Barajas, Santino Barajas, Dominic Barajas, Eva Battin, Isabel Battin, Sawyer Wallace, Samantha Wallace and Sydney Wallace and several nieces and nephews.

Gilbert served in the United States Air Force. He was a Union Boilermaker with Local 363 out of Illinois. He retired from Eli Lilly as a supervisor in the maintenance department and was a member of the VFW in DePue, IL.

A visitation will be held at Brown-Mack Funeral Home on Wednesday March 29, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM with rosary service at 5:45PM. Military Honors will be at Brown-Mack Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on Thursday March 30, 2023, followed by Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockville, IN at 11:30 AM with Father Jobe Puthussery officiating. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association in memory of Gilbert. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
