Edward W. “Ed” Pfeifer, 94, of Montezuma, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 11:51 pm at his residence.
Ed was born in Edwardsville, Illinois, on January 30, 1927, to Edward and Evelyn Pfeifer.
He was previously a supervisor at C F Industries prior to his retirement. He also worked at Brown Funeral Home (later Brown-Mack Funeral Home) in Montezuma for over 35 years. He was a WWII Army veteran and was deployed at Iwo Jima. He was a long time member of the United Presbyterian Church in Montezuma
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sue who died in 2011; and 2 sisters, Lila Holcomb and JoAnn Crossley.
Survivors include his son, Richard (Linda) Pfeifer of Overgaard, AZ; his daughter, Lea Anne Thompson of Montezuma; 4 grandchildren, Cary Watson, Lisa Lovins, Christopher Pfeifer, and Tyler Pfeifer; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lou and Larry Bartlow; 2 other brothers-in-law, Frank Crossley of Clinton and Mike (Becky) Davies of New Goshen; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Ed will be on Monday, June 7, 2021 from 4 to 7 pm at Brown-Mack Funeral Home in Montezuma. On Tuesday, June 8, military honors will be performed at 10 am at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Clinton, followed immediately by the funeral service. Rev.Keith McIntyre will officiate and burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
