Dale L. Thomas

Dale L. Thomas, 90, of West Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday January 9, 2025, at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice in Terre Haute. Born in Hillsdale, Indiana on August 16, 1934, to Homer and Maxine (McFall) Thomas who precede him in death. Also preceding Dale in death is his son Randy Thomas and his brother Denny Thomas.

He Married his wife Wanda (Warmouth) Thomas on May 8, 1957, and she survives him. Also surviving are his son Allen Thomas (Sharon Fields); daughters Nyla Schwartz (Jeff) and Lisa Thomas; grandchildren Nicole Chatman and Noelle Schwartz; great-grandchild Nolan Craig Stableton; sisters Wanda Dove and Darlene Lewis; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Dale was a graduate of Hillsdale High School class of 1952 and worked in maintenance for 35 years at Wabash River Generating Station. He loved poetry and teaching his children and grandchildren how to play sports. Dale enjoyed walking several miles a day and going to ISU Sycamore basketball games with his best friend Jim Fortune. He could shoot one hundred free throws and not miss one. Dale had a way with dogs and was known as the dog whisperer.

Visitation will be at Brown-Mack Funeral Home on Tuesday January 14, 2025, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Service at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Paul Bundy officiating. Military honors will be prior to the service. Burial will follow at Memory Garden in Rockville.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Parke-Vermillion Humane Society in memory of Dale.
