Charles “Chuck” E. Vandevender, 74 of Brocton, Illinois passed away on Sunday September 3, 2023, at Horizon Health in Paris, Illinois.
Chuck was born in Clinton, Indiana on August 3, 1949, to John Vandevender and Annie Coonce Vandevender.
Chuck was a graduate of Montezuma High School Class of 1968. He served in the United States Army and was a tank operator in Vietnam. Chuck retired from CSX railroad as a machine operator. He was a member of the Montezuma Fish & Game Club and chuck loved old cars and Harley’s.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Chuck is survived by his companion Sandra Klyaic of Brocton, Illinois; step daughters Shawna Behiter of Brocton, Illinois, Robin Wahl (Rick) of Brocton, Illinois, Tammy Griffin (Ted) of Montezuma, Indiana and Cindy Atkinson of Rockville, Indiana; brother Bronson Vandevender of Montezuma, Indiana; sisters Sharon Wilson of Clinton, Indiana and Shirley Archer; step grandchildren Geoffrey, Alexandra, Cheyanne and Austin, special granddaughter Allison Behiter; special nephew Andrew Griffin and eight step great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Brown-Mack Funeral Home on Thursday September 7, 2023, from 1:00– 3:00pm Service with Military Honors will be at 3:00pm with Rev. Keith McIntyre officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Montezuma.
