Barbara Ketchem Obituary

Barbara “Barb” Joann Ketchem of Montezuma went to be with the lord on May 9, 2023.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma during her incredible 82 years of life. She was born June 6, 1940, in Elnora, Indiana to Ross and Ethel Edmonson. Barb had two sisters, Joyce & Wilma, who have preceded her in death along with her parents and a brother who was stillborn.

Barb always had the need to care for others as God did for her. He led her down the path to becoming an LPN later in life. She worked at the VCC in Clinton for several years caring for those who were unable to care for themselves or at end of life. She was passionate about her career, and it always showed. She was a 50-year member of the IVFAA Auxiliary, a member of the Eastern Star for 65 years and the district chairperson for the IVFAA for 4 years.

Barb leaves behind her husband Larry Ketchem of 64 years, two children: Jill (Larry) Vandivier of Rockville, Jodi (Anthony) Rohr of Montezuma, four grandchildren: Jared Rohr, Heath Rohr, Carly (Quenton) Hill, and Lucas (Anna) Vandivier, five great-grandchildren Haley, Makayla, Gracelyn, Olivia, and Jenson, and several nieces and nephews.

Barb was headstrong and set in her ways but had the biggest heart. She loved her family fiercely and knew God would bring her home when he was ready for her. She was a long-time member of the Montezuma Christian Church and was involved in many aspects of the church. Her love of God showed with every smile she had. She will be missed by so many but always in our hearts.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown-Mack Funeral Home in Montezuma, IN.

When peace, like a river attendeth my way

When sorrow like sea billows roll;

Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,

It is well, it is well, with my soul.
