Betty Lou (Johns) Crockett, age 87, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on December 11, 2019 at her residence in Evansville, IN.
Betty Lou was born in Montezuma, IN on June 12, 1932, the daughter of the late Reese and Maxine (Spurgeon) Johns. Her husband of 51 years, William W. Crockett, whom she married on August 12, 1951, preceded her in death in 2002.
She was also preceded in death by her son, William R. Crockett, and brother, Jerry Johns.
Betty Lou is survived by son Dr. Charles R. Crockett, daughters-in-law Rose (Metzner) Crockett and Vicki (Anderson) Crockett; brother James Perry (Karen) Johns; sister Jeanette (Max) Whitaker; grandchildren William (Kristen) Crockett, Patrick Crockett, Stephen Crockett, Christina Dickinson (Lt. Col. David Dickinson), Corinne Crockett, Erica (Kyle) Hirsch, Jacob Crockett, and Benjamin (Amber) Crockett; nine great-grandchildren, seven nieces, and nephew Donald J. Fortner.
During her life, Betty Lou was a homemaker, as well as a secretary and bookkeeper. She retired from Duneland School Corporation in Chesterton, IN in 1988. She enjoyed reading, watching football, bowling, and playing bingo.
Cremation is scheduled in accordance with her wishes.  Betty Lou and William Crockett’s remains will be laid to rest together in a private burial ceremony in Oakland Cemetery, Montezuma, IN at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Independent Baptist Church, 760 N. Jefferson St., PO Box 8, Montezuma, IN 47862.
